Videocon to release its Mobile Phone Models

Mumbai: Having recently forayed into the mobile handset market, electronics and consumer durable major Videocon, plans to launch 15 new models of mobile phones over the next two months pan-India.

"We are very new in this segment and aim to be among the top three players by achieving a double-digit market share this year. We would launch 15 more models in the next two months," Videocon Mobile Phones Division's Chief Operating Officer Rahul Goel told PTI. Presently, Videocon has 12 mobile phone models in the market. Videocon also has tied-up with Planet M retail outlets for the sale of its products.

Videocon has priced its mobile phones from Rs. 1,600 to Rs. 18,500. Goel said that India has over 400 million mobile phone subscribers, with 10 million new users being added every month, which offers immense potential to the players.

The company targets to scale up its handset sales by introducing models and establishing strong relationships with channel partners and operators, Goel said.
