7 Critical Tips to Look Young Longer - Read What the Experts Are Saying About Anti Aging Skin Care

If you think about it -- our skin is the largest organ we have, and the first line of defense that protects us from the outside world. Because our skin is constantly exposed to the elements, over time, it starts to age and wear. We can see this on our faces and bodies as wrinkles, dryness, and spots.

Most of us strive to look young and fresh for as long as we can - and we can do this, if you use the right types of anti-aging products and follow a few guidelines. In this article, I have outlined seven critical tips to keep your skin young, healthy and glowing with a natural skin care routine.

Natural Ingredients are Key

The products you put on your body are just as important as what you eat, as the ingredients in those products are absorbed into your bloodstream through your skin. Look for products that contain natural ingredients - these will be plant names that you will most likely recognize, as opposed to indecipherable chemical names.

Use Keratin Products

Keratin is a natural compound that our bodies produce to strengthen and grow our nails and hair. Keratin is found in skin, too - it's what helps skin maintain its elasticity and tightness. Using anti-aging products that contain keratin will keep your skin young in a natural way.

Look for Coenzymes and Antioxidants

Choose products that contain coenzyme or antioxidant ingredients. These are naturally derived compounds that help your skin repel free radicals, which are the toxic compounds in our air that can cause cancer. In addition to their cancer-prevention qualities, these compounds also repel the sun's harmful UV rays and therefore can add dramatic anti-wrinkle benefits to a product.

Less is More

Always try to select products that contain several active, natural ingredients, but stay away from the products whose ingredient lists contain many chemicals and fillers. A few good natural active ingredients is always preferable to a long ingredient list in a product.

Go Naked -- Look For Fragrance-Free Products

Since you put wrinkle reams and lotions all over your skin, choosing products that are fragrance-free is the most healthy option. Fragrances are sometimes derived from harsh chemical ingredients, and they can also irritate and dry out your skin. Choose skincare products that are fragrance-free - adding fragrance with a small spritz of perfume is a much healthier option.

Avoid Parabens

Many of the skincare products you see at the drugstore contain parabens, a preservative that has been linked to breast cancer and unusual hormone fluctuations. Non-natural compounds like parabens can be potentially harmful and it is best to avoid products that contain them.

Stay Out of the Sun

Lastly, it is always good to avoid prolonged sun exposure, even if you are using natural anti-aging products. The sun can cause premature wrinkles, age spots, and skin dryness. Also, the harmful UV rays from the sun can cause skin cancer, even if you are in your twenties or thirties. Always wear sunscreen in addition to your wrinkle preventing creams or choose a product that has an SPF rating.

As you can see, it is possible to keep your skin young and healthy without overwhelming your body with chemicals and potentially dangerous ingredients. By choosing natural skin care products, you are benefiting yourself both inside and out.
