Spain Won the 2010 Fifa World Cup - Spain Won the 2010 Football World Cup

South Africa (July 11th): Spain are the reigning European champions, having won the 2010 FIFA World Cup] in 2010 and UEFA European Championship in 2008. Spain also won the European Nations' Cup in 1964 and reached the UEFA Euro 1984 Final. Spain has qualified for the FIFA World Cup thirteen times, reaching fourth place in the 1950 tournament. In July 2008 Spain rose to the top of the FIFA World Ranking for the first time in its history, becoming the sixth nation to top this ranking, and the first who has never won the World Cup. Between November 2006 and June 2009 Spain went undefeated for a record tying 35 consecutive matches before their loss to the United States, a record shared with Brazil, including a record 15-game winning streak. On 11 July 2010, Spain won the FIFA 2010 World Cup.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the 19th FIFA World Cup, the premier international football tournament. It is scheduled to take place between 11 June and 11 July 2010 in South Africa. The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the culmination of a qualification process that began in August 2007 and involved 204 of the 208 FIFA national teams. As such, it matches the 2008 Summer Olympics as the sports event with the most competing nations.

This will be the first time that the tournament has been hosted by an African nation, after South Africa defeated Morocco and Egypt in an all-African bidding process. This decision left the Oceania Football Confederation as the only confederation yet to host the FIFA World Cup. Italy are the defending champions, after winning the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. The draw for the finals took place on 4 December 2009 in Cape Town.

World Cup France - 2010 FIFA World Cup™

France’s fitness coach, Robert Duverne, is apparently not the mole. He’s just a member of the staff who has trouble accepting that the team wouldn’t train ahead of a World Cup match, which put him at odds with France captain Patrice Evra who was leading the boycott. Evra’s upset that Nico was sent home, and he’s upset about the mole in the camp, whom he dubbed a traitor. Domenech’s also upset about the leak, but said that Anelka wouldn’t have been sent home if he had agreed to apologize.

The French Football Federations (FFF’s) managing director Jean-Louis Valentin was so upset about the team boycotting practice that he resigned.

Other than that, it’s a quiet build-up to the third group match, with France needing a decisive victory over South Africa while also needing Uruguay and Mexico not to play to a draw.

Xbox Updates - Game of the year 'Halo: Reach'

The most anticipated game of the year is making its worldwide debut this September. “Halo: Reach,” the blockbuster prequel to the best-selling video game franchise and hailed as the No. 1 game series of all time,1 will leave its mark on the entertainment landscape when it launches worldwide, starting Sept. 14, 2010, and in Japan on Sept. 15.

Developed exclusively for Xbox 360 by acclaimed studio Bungie, “Halo: Reach” drops players back into the iconic universe they love so they can experience the birth of the “Halo” legend. During the past 10 years, the “Halo” franchise has inspired multiple New York Times best-selling novels, comic books, action figures, apparel and more, and it has sold more than 34 million games worldwide to date.

“‘Halo: Reach’ is the culmination of a decade of ‘Halo,’ a franchise that has become a global entertainment and pop-culture touchstone,” said Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios at Microsoft Corp. “Just as ‘Halo: Combat Evolved’ catalyzed the success of the original Xbox to define a decade of entertainment, ‘Halo: Reach’ will push the boundaries for what’s possible in video games and help make 2010 the biggest year in Xbox history.”

“There’s no doubt in my mind that ‘Halo: Reach’ will be one of the biggest games and hottest entertainment products of the year,” said Bob McKenzie, senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop. “Pre-orders for ‘Halo: Reach’ have been off the charts, with fans snapping up the limited and legendary editions since they were introduced just a month ago. Overall, it’s a real testament to the passion of the ‘Halo’ fan base.”

Consumers Help Make History With Record-Breaking “Halo: Reach” Beta

As a testament to the anticipation for its release, more than 2.7 million “Halo” fans helped make entertainment history this month by participating in the “Halo: Reach” multiplayer beta on Xbox LIVE, making it the largest console video game beta test on record and more than triple the size of the “Halo 3” beta. Players completed more than 13 million online games and logged over 16 million hours of online gameplay, amounting to over 1,826 years of total play time in just over a two-week period. The data and user feedback gathered from the beta will help Bungie and Microsoft further refine the game and deliver a blockbuster experience that fans have come to expect from the “Halo” franchise.

“Halo: Reach” follows the story of Noble Team, a squad of heroic Spartan soldiers as they make their final stand on planet Reach, humanity’s last line of defense between the terrifying Covenant and Earth. Representing the best-in-class multiplayer elements that have become the hallmark of the “Halo” series, “Halo: Reach” offers the most action-packed multiplayer experience yet on Xbox LIVE. The “Halo: Reach” experience is completed with an intense campaign, an unparalleled suite of features and stunning new visuals powered by groundbreaking new technology.

“Halo: Reach” represents an enormous evolution for the genre-defining “Halo” games, and is testament to Bungie’s 10 years of experience crafting amazing experiences. During the past decade, “Halo” fans have demonstrated their commitment to the franchise by logging more than 2 billion hours of gameplay on Xbox LIVE, sharing millions of pieces of user-generated content, creating original “Halo” machinima series and even holding “Halo” themed weddings.

“Halo: Reach” is available for preorder in standard, limited and legendary editions at participating retailers worldwide. The standard edition has an estimated retail price of $59.99 (U.S.), and the limited and legendary editions of the game will retail for $79.99 and $149.99 (U.S.), respectively. The limited and legendary editions of “Halo: Reach” are packed with extras that fans won’t want to miss. The centerpiece of the legendary edition is a 10-inch-tall, hand-painted and individually molded Noble Team statue crafted by the expert artisans at McFarlane Toys. As a special bonus, fans can receive a token to unlock an exclusive in-game Spartan Recon Helmet, by picking up a copy of the game on launch day at North American retail stores, and outside of North America by making a pre-order reservation at participating retailers.

This week is the premiere of “Birth of a Spartan,” a live-action short directed by award-winning director Noam Murro. Airing on multiple U.K. and U.S. TV networks and also showing in movie theaters across North America, “Birth of a Spartan” is a stirring depiction of the transformation of Carter 259, the future leader of Noble Team in “Halo: Reach,” from an ordinary young man to a superhuman Spartan warrior.

The highly classified bio-augmentation procedure is a Spartan candidate’s final and most difficult ordeal before joining the ranks of the legendary soldiers. The dramatic interpretation of Carter’s rebirth as a Spartan embodies the themes of courage, sacrifice and honor in “Halo: Reach” and gives viewers a unique look into the origins of a central character in the upcoming blockbuster game.

The 60 second ad short premieres in the U.K. on Tuesday, April 27 via Sky Sports 2 at the full time whistle of the Champions League semi-final between Lyon and Bayern Munich, and it debuts on the same day in the U.S. during an episode of ABC’s “V.” Following its premieres on Sky 2 and ABC, the short will air on multiple shows across sixteen other U.K. and U.S. TV networks, including Comedy Central, Spike TV, Bravo, FX, TNT and TBS.

On the following day a special, extended two minute 30 second version will be available for download on Xbox LIVE exclusively for Gold members. The ad short will also premiere on April 28 in cinemas across North America in select theaters with screenings through the opening weekend of “Iron Man 2” and concludes on May 13.

Super Kings reign over the Deccan Chargers

Navi Mumbai: Focus, conviction and clinical precision saw the Chennai Super Kings defend a paltry total and defeat Deccan Chargers here tonight by 38 runs.

Doug Bollinger bowled with the kind of fervour that is required to defend a small total. His four-for was the foundation on which the Super Kings built their victory tower. He was ably supported by the CSK spinners Shadab Jakati and R Ashwin.

Not even their staunchest supporters would have believed CSK had a chance to get back into the game after scoring 142, but an inspired bowling display, some desperation in the field and some brilliant field placements saw the Chennai squad make it into the IPL final.

Adam Gilchrist seemed to be rediscovering his touch but a fine catch by Anirudha Srikkanth off the bowling of Doug Bollinger sent the DC captain back to the dug-out. Bollinger struck again to send back the Chargers’ in-form batsman T Suman and have DC floundering at 23 for 2 after the Powerplay.

Rohit Sharma had to try and up the run-rate and Albie Morkel got his wicket making him mis-time a lofted shot. Herschelle Gibbs and Monish Mishra soon followed Sharma and the Chargers’ charge looked to have fizzled out even before it began.

With half the side gone with just 54 on the board, it was up to Andrew Symonds to rescue his team and take them into the final. But once Ashwin claimed his wicket as he was trying to clear the field, it was game over for the Deccan Chargers.

Earlier, MS Dhoni’s decision to bat first on a green and bouncy track backfired with the Chennai side unable to counter the dual threats of seam movement and bounce.

The Gods seemed to be smiling on Matthew Hayden and giving him not one but two lifelines. First RP Singh dropped a simple chance off the CSK opener and then B Sumanth at gully gave Hayden another chance. But Hayden didn’t seem interested in staying out there and gave an easy catch to Andrew Symonds off the bowling of Ryan Harris.

Harris was in the thick of things and claimed the second CSK wicket of Murali Vijay. Suresh Raina soon joined the CSK openers in the dug-out.

S Badrinath and MS Dhoni tried their hardest to rescue the sinking CSK ship and their 52-run partnership went some way in saving Chennai the embarrassment of scoring the lowest total in an IPL semi-final.

But first Dhoni (30) and then Badrinath (37) departed without really setting the stadium on fire - the Super Kings were tottering at the precipice of a dismal total at the stage. But a late charge by Anirudha Srikkanth saw Chennai to a respectable total of 142 for seven.

The Deccan bowlers stuck to a good line and length, extracted bounce and generally managed to rein in the Super Kings with Ryan Harris and Andrew Symonds being the only real performers.

Sony PS3 Latest Updates, PS3 News 1st March

The PlayStation 3 (officially abbreviated as PS3) is the third home video game console produced by Sony Computer Entertainment, and the successor to the PlayStation 2 as part of the PlayStation series. The PlayStation 3 competes with Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Nintendo's Wii as part of the seventh generation of video game consoles.

A major feature that distinguishes the PlayStation 3 from its predecessors is its unified online gaming service, the PlayStation Network, which contrasts with Sony's former policy of relying on video game developers for online play. Other major features of the console include its robust multimedia capabilities, connectivity with the PlayStation Portable, and its use of a high-definition optical disc format, Blu-ray Disc, as its primary storage medium. The PS3 was also the first Blu-ray 2.0-compliant Blu-ray player on the market.

The PlayStation 3 was first released on November 11, 2006 in Japan, November 17, 2006 in North America and South America, and March 23, 2007 in Europe and Oceania. Two SKUs were available at launch: a basic model with a 20 GB hard drive (HDD), and a premium model with a 60 GB hard drive and several additional features (the 20 GB model was not released in Europe or Oceania). Since then, several revisions have been made to the console's available models, most notably with the release of a new slim model in September 2009 to coincide with rebranding of the console and its logo.

Latest News

The glitch that nerfed my old-style "fat" PlayStation 3 and temporarily 'bricked' millions of others worldwide appears to have vanished as mysteriously as it appeared.

At approximately 3:45pm PT, reports began flooding gaming boards suggesting units were coming back to life after a time-date error that left them unable to connect to Sony's PlayStation Network or play certain games offline. I'd been waiting for GMT +0:00 to pass, but risked powering up early based on the sudden deluge of anecdotal evidence.

For starters, the screen color was different at startup, a kind of deep green (hello March!) suggesting some internal mechanism had silently triggered and automatically switched the date setting (the PS3 draws its default color scheme from the system clock). A glance at the system date confirmed it was now sometime in April 2010. To paraphrase the guys on How I Met Your Mother, Future-PS3 had apparently solved Current-PS3's problem.

Tapping over to the system's time-date settings, I ran an auto-sync--a feature that wasn't working during the glitch--and the system auto-righted itself to March 1, 2010. One last thing to check, and sure enough, my copies of Heavy Rain and White Knight Chronicles loaded without incident.

Just to be extra-sure, I powered up my debug PS3, and presto, it too was working again. Thank goodness, because I'm on the hook for a Final Fantasy XIII review--not the sort of game you want to fall even a single day behind on.

Sony has yet to update its international blogs or Twitter feeds, possibly because the company's collectively collapsed from stress-exhaustion, but more likely because they want to be sure things really are back, not just bits and pieces. I can vouch for my own recovery--two units, one retail, one debug, but that's it.

If you want to test yours safely, power up, then before doing anything else, run a time-date interent sync. If it works, you're back in business, and if your trophies don't seem entirely right, try performing a manual trophy sync.

Sachin Tendulkar Double Century makes him legend

Sachin Tendulkar’s unbeaten 200 is a testimony to his fitness and commitment even as he heads for his 37th birthday. He is looking as fit as focused and as formidable as he ever has, and his timing remains untouched by the passing years.

Having played till the age of 39, I know that discipline, good, healthy living and focus can add years to one’s career. What I lost in pace and stamina, I gained in control and guile. In Tendulkar’s case, too, he has smartly sorted out his game. He might not have the eye he had in his late 20s, or the speed — those are the peak years of every batsman. However, Tendulkar has compensated for those areas with excellent shot selection and placement.

I always maintain that Test cricket and one-day cricket are two different areas, one cannot be connected to the other. However, Tendulkar’s rich vein of form in the longer version seems to have relaxed him and given him the freedom to play in an unburdened manner. Though I did not see the knock, the statistics I have got are staggering.

The fact that he got the score in 147 balls itself is a huge achievement and by reaching 200 he bettered one of the best one-day knocks I have seen, by Saeed Anwar. The latter was one of the sweetest timers of the ball, and that knock in Chennai was when he was at the peak of his form. To have bettered that Tendulkar must have really turned on the magic with some scintillating shots.

There may be many who will say that the wicket helped strokeplay and that there was nothing in it for the bowlers. But no matter what the wicket is like, to stand through 50 overs and score 200 is a very, very special effort — an achievement that his contemporaries, Ricky Ponting and Brian Lara, would have been proud of.

If I had had to pick up a guy as the one to score the first one-day double ton, it would have been Virender Sehwag. He is young, belligerent and in unbelievable touch. However, it was his illustrious senior who pipped him at the post. Tendulkar seems to have rediscovered an exuberance and enjoyment which seems to have taken his game to a different level, and India would be hoping that he maintains this rhythm for some time.

This achievement would mean a lot to Tendulkar, even though he has many records to his name because every opener must have had an eye on this record. A double century has only been a theoretical possibility in limited overs so far, so in many ways Tendulkar has achieved something unusual. True, he has many feathers on his cap, but this one is a really special one. An absolutely phenomenal record by a truly phenomenal player.

Xbox 360, Nintendo in New Sony Play Station

Sony, the creator of successful gaming console series PlayStation, has filed a patent for a gaming controller with a touchscreen LCD screen that can be used with more than one type of gaming console. Whether the different types of consoles include Microsoft's Xbox 360 or Nintendo's Wii isn't being specified, but it technically could and the technical drawing included in the patent does bear the Nintendo and Xbox names, according to electronista.

The display can replicate the button layout and configuration of nearly any controller currently on the market, as long as it's preprogrammed into the device. The virtual layout also has plural keys that can be selected by the user to input commands to a game console.

Many gamers use more than one game console and might find this invention very useful. It will be difficult to predict whether virtual buttons will be better than physical buttons. But it might just make the gaming experience much more convenient. Sony has so far not claimed that it will be making any controller of this sort, though it is quite obvious that the process of developing it must have already started.

The company has filed the patent with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
