Congress government to support rural accounting
New Delhi: The Congress government in the Center has been shelling out several crores to help the aam admi, as a part of these efforts a new employment opportunity for poor youth has been created in rural accounting. The Ministry for Rural Development has received proposals to train rural youth belonging to below poverty line (BPL) category in rural accounting.
The Ministry is associated with corporate houses to train rural youth in skills that can guarantee them, the new proposals are part of these skill development projects, reports Economic Times. "It is a new, emerging skill and has many jobs," said Secretary Rita Sharma. While construction, hospitality apparel, security services are some of the job-intensive sectors, rural accounting has rapidly emerged as a new field with a lot of employment opportunities.
The Ministry has set out to train seven lakh BPL youths in three years as part of 83 projects. It has an outlay of Rs. 800 crore for this purpose. When the BPL youth are trained in new skills, the Ministry seeks to ensure that they are suitably absorbed into the sector. Importantly, each of the beneficiaries is tracked for one year to ensure there are no dropouts. As of now, 1.10 lakh persons have been trained with leading players in different sectors and 75,000 of them have found placement.
