SanDisk launches 64 GB CompactFlash card

Bangalore: Are you a professional photographer? If you are, SanDisk has brought a new line of Extreme Pro CompactFlash memory card for you. The SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash card is mainly designed for professionals, who use advanced DSLR cameras. The new card will enable fast read and write speeds of up to 90 MB per second, doubling the performance from previous SanDisk high-end cards.

On the launch, Manisha Sood, Country Manager-India and SAARC, SanDisk said, "The new SanDisk Extreme Pro Professional CompactFlash line is launched to provide best-in-class flash memory cards for professional photography. The SanDisk Power Core Controller delivers unmatched write speed and reliability, providing photographers with a spectacular combination of performance, capacity and peace of mind that images are safely stored."

Faster read and write speeds give more opportunities to capture the winning shot and less time spent in offloading gigabytes (GB) of images afterwards. Large storage capacity enables photographers to capture RAW images and high-definition video clips in a single session without running out of space.

These cards are fully compatible with any camera, card reader or other device that supports CompactFlash cards. If you have a newer digital SLR that supports the fast UDMA (mode 6) interface - cameras like the Nikon D3, Nikon D300 and D300S, Nikon D700, Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EOS 50D, and the forthcoming Canon EOS 7D - a card like the SanDisk Extreme Pro can be well worth its high price of admission. The SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash cards are available worldwide at a price of Rs.17,499-Rs.57,499.

The cards are shipping worldwide now with capacities ranging from 16 (GB)2 to 64GB. SanDisk develops its flash controllers and memory chips together, allowing the company to perfectly match and fine-tune the two technologies throughout the testing process, resulting in high-performance products with industry-leading endurance.

The new cards' 16 to 64GB capacity range offers the storage space needed to allow extended shooting sessions without having to reload, while the cards' 90MB/s read/write speeds ensure that professionals can transfer their data quickly. This combination of speed and capacity makes the new line of cards well suited for professional usage models involving large amounts of data and tight deadlines. The SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash cards are available worldwide at a price of Rs.17,499-Rs.57,499.

As half of the SanDisk's sales are outside the U.S, the company seems to be manly focusing on the Asia Pacific market, consisting India, China and others. Manisha said "India is one of the important markets for SanDisk and we have got a better response from the consumers in the last few years."

With the expectation of 2.5 million digital cameras to be sold in Asia Pacific region by 2012, the market of memory cards seems to grow strongly.
