Nokia gold-plated 6700 Classic phone

Bangalore: Handset maker Nokia has launched a special edition of one of its best-selling handsets, the 6700 Classic. The new Gold Edition candybar has stainless steel cover that comes with 18-carat gold plating, while other unique features include a full metal keymat and animated wallpapers.

The handset otherwise shares its specifications with the traditional 6700, including its 2.2-inch, 320x240 screen and 5-megapixel camera. There is compatibility with 3G High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) data networks and 170MB of built-in memory. The Gold Edition also adds a leather carrying case with strap and ships with an 8GB microSDHC memory card.

The Gold 6700 will be available early in 2010 in certain European countries, priced at the equivalent of $546 before factoring in carrier discounts.
