Supreme Court on IIT JEE 2010 Results

The Supreme has rejected the petition to withheld the IIT JEE 2010 results from being declared on Wednesday, May 26, 2010. Calling the public interest litigation as a “publicity stunt”, the vacation bench headed by Justice GS Singhvi has rejected the petition filed by Chetan Upadhyaya and said that there is no “justification for allowing him to intermeddle in the matter”.

Chetan Upadhyaya is the secretary of Satya Foundation and he also claims to be a journalist. He filed a PIL against the declaration of the IIT JEE 2010 results saying that the instruction manual provided to the examinees with different for English and Hindi medium and that this has created many confusion to the students.

Justice Singhvi believes that no court can play with the career of the students. Reacting to the petition, he asked “What will happen if (as a consequence) some students commit suicide?”.

Meanwhile the IIT Delhi is all set to declare the IIT JEE 2010 results tomorrow, May 26. The exact timing of the result announcement has not been made public yet.
