Zimbabwe and India are getting ready to face each other in their first test of the tri series, hosted by the former country. Zimbabwe doesn’t seem to be in the best of its form, which were once regarded as a healthy team with the presence of Heath Streak, Flower brothers, Alistair Campbell, Paul Strang, Neil Johnson, Murray Goodwin, Henry Olonga, Guy Whittall and Stuart Carlisle. However, the hosts hope to take advantage of the home turf and revive their fan base.

Despite certain disciplinary concerns, Zimbabwe would be led by Elton Chigumbura, following the resignation of Prosper Utseya’s resignation under mysterious circumstances. Their spin bowling attack shall be taken up by Chigumbura himself and Chris Mpofu.

India on the other hand had a stint on the Zimbabwe soil quite long ago, at the time of skipper Sourav Ganguly and coach Greg Chappell. However, with none of the then players present in the squad, the onus lies on the young blood to charge up their side. The team would be led by Suresh Raina, with little experience in Test matches, but the side seems to be rather confident with an outstanding strength of spin bowling.

The Zimbabwe vs India test would be a challenging comeback for both the teams after the T20 stint, though the guests seem to have an edge in the wake of past performances.
