Wrong subject on hall ticket

MUMBAI: A student of Buhrani College in Mazgoan, who could not clear one of the business management papers in the BCom exam this year and was supposed to appear for the paper again on Thursday, was shocked to discover that his hall ticket had the wrong subject--financial accounts and auditing--on it.

So a day before the exam, instead of studying for the paper, Baharuddin Shaikh had to spend the better part of Wednesday, getting the error rectified.

Mumbai University controller of examinations Vilas Shinde, however, said the fault lay with the student. "He made an error while filling out his application form for the re-examination. He wrote the wrong code for the paper and then overwrote the number. So, our staff allotted him the wrong paper. This is a mistake that can be easily rectified once he comes for the exam,'' Shinde said. Baharuddin, though, said he had made no mistake and also denied overwriting the code.

This is not the first time that students at Mumbai University complained of goof-ups in important documents. TOI had earlier reported on how a student received his university degree in his father's name and another received his postgraduate degree mark sheet riddled with spelling mistakes.
