Surgery needed for Bobcats G Raja Bell has torn ligament in wrist,

Charlotte Bobcats starting shooting guard Raja Bell has a partially torn ligament in his left wrist that could require surgery and sideline him for most of the season.

Coach Larry Brown made the announcement after Charlotte's 94-87 exhibition victory over Milwaukee on Tuesday. Brown said Bell's agent has requested a second opinion. Brown said it's possible Bell could get treatment without surgery and return sooner.

Bell injured his wrist trying to get a loose ball in Sunday's game against Utah. His loss would be a major blow for the Bobcats, who acquired him from Phoenix last season.
