Rahul poll rally outside hospital: BJP alleges code violation

A senior BJP leader today alleged that there was violation of the model code of conduct in holding the rally of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi outside a hospital here for the Maharashtra Assembly polls.

"Before granting permission to the rally outside the rural hospital at Panvel, local authorities should have checked if it violated the code and noise pollution norms," state BJP leader Kirit Somaiya said, adding patients were inconvenienced due to loudspeakers in the vicinity.

Raigad collector Subhash Sonawane said that a complaint has been received from BJP alleging poll code violation. "We have asked officials at Panvel to check the case and submit a report," he said.

The Election Commission issued a poll code violation notice to NCP chief Sharad Pawar. The Commission should act in this case also, he said
