Geelani Troops' presence outcome of all problems in Kashmir
SRINAGAR, Oct 20: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani today said that the every problem in Kashmir was the outcome of presence of [Indian] troops in the valley.
He appealed people to follow the programmes of Hurriyat (G) and make these successful. Before talking to media persons at press colony Hurriyat (G) chairman addressed bar association and held brief meetings with few journalists and bar members.
Earlier addressing people at Hyderpora Jamia masjid after mid-day prayers, Geelani asked them to follow the Hurriyat (G) protest programme on withdrawal of troops and make it a complete success. He said that due to the house arrest, his voice could not reach people he could offer prayers local at Jamia masjid after six months.
Geelani said that Hurriyat (G) was committed to take ongoing movement to its logical end and people should positively follow its programmes. He later drove to the state high court where he addressed bar association. He said that bar has a vital role in ongoing movement and if it (bar) failed to play its role the coming generation would not forgive it.
Geelani said that complete removal of troops from the state was firs step towards achieving freedom. He said that removal of troops from the state would certainly help resolve all the issues. Hurriyat (G) chairman said that unprecedented excesses on people, unabated loot of forests and environmental pollution was outcome of the presence of troops.
He said that India was powerful but people should not feel demoralized because even big countries like China, Saudi Arabia and Libia have also started supporting the legitimate ongoing movement and advocate early resolution of Kashmir.
Hurriyat (G) chairman said that India can not weaken or suppress the ongoing movement at the behest of power and people should not feel demoralized with ups and downs in the movement. Geelani said that due to his continuous detention and house arrest the protest programme on 'land occupation by troops' could not be given on Eid. Hurriyat (G) chairman thanked bar association for contesting cases of prisoners.
Later Geelani visited a local daily office at press colony and talked to media persons. He said that the ongoing movement should be continued at all costs and it (the movement) was going through a crucial stage. Geelani hoped that media will play its role in reporting the facts without fear or favour and take the programmes of Hurriyat (G) to people.
Hurriyat (G) chairman said that a non-Muslim delegation apprised him non state subjects have attained control over some temples and he assured them of full help.
