Commando team of NSG stationed near IGI airport

Manesar (Gurgaon): A crack commando team of the elite anti-terror force NSG will soon be stationed near the Indira Gandhi International airport to tackle any possible hostage situation or attacks, similar to what happened in Mumbai last year.

Official sources said the unit, which will comprise 50-60 commandos, will be stationed near the airport and can also use a helicopter, if need arises, with the construction of a helipad.

The force has already got the required land and the men have been stationed near the airport so that the commandos can swing into action as fast as possible in case of a terror attack or a hijack situation.

Sources said the infrastructure would come up soon and the base will fully start functioning by year-end. The commandos will only have to open a door and enter the tarmac of the airport in case of any risk situation, the sources said.
